The video village: an area, typically backstage, where the 'machinery' of production exists, and is tended to by 'the crew'.
Keynotes and General Sessions (corporate theater); Concerts (entertainment); Fundraisers, awards / recognition dinners (galas) Product Launches, Shareholder Meetings, Town Halls and Press Events (special events). These audience experiences all rely on a video village of one sort or another.
(The area known as "Front of House" is included in our discussion; it is the audience facing aspect of this 'machine')
There will be as many opinions as to the what/how and why of the video village as there are events; indeed, no two are exactly alike. Yet there are fundamentals; formulas, if you will, that go into the successful set-up and operation of this show 'engine'.
This website explores the technologies and teams behind the curtain, and discusses best practices used in the environment.
Specifically excluded from this particular website is the video village used on film and commercial sets. While there are some similarities, the editors of "Inside the Video Village" recognize it is an entirely different animal and, for the time being at least, choose to focus on the corporate/special event definition.
Feedback is encouraged; your mileage may vary.
Have a great show!
